Best Of The Cheap!

Picture
It's hard to find cheap karaoke machines that perform at an acceptable level. I have personally gone through a couple of REALLY CHEAP machines, and highly recommend that you learn from my mistake. The models that cost less than 40 bucks are only going to give you a headache in the end. There is no reason to spend more than 100 bucks, but don't go too cheap, or you will be disappointed.

The cheap karaoke machine that I recommend costs less than 100 bucks, and is an absolute blast to whip out. Especially with your loved ones. This is a great kids karaoke machine or even professional karaoke system. You name, for less than 100 bucks, you really cannot get a better system.

Memorex MKS-SS1 SingStand Home Karaoke System

Features:

Line Input
Sing along with music from a iPod device or any MP3 device with a headphone jack using the 3.5mm line-in connection. The convenient holder keeps your device's controls front and center.

Auto Voice Control
Auto Voice Control (AVC) is your built-in vocal guide, reducing the song's original vocals while you're singing, and leaving them untouched while you're not.

Vocal Effects/Controls
Enhance your vocals with the built-in echo effect, and get just the right ratio of voice to music with the balance control.

Room-Filling Sound
Two four-watt speakers are built right into the SingStand's base, providing great sound whether you're singing along or not.

Instrument Amplifier
Why not use the SingStand to enjoy your instruments? Plug in a keyboard for practice or for a mini-recital.

Duet Time
The SingStand features dual microphone inputs, so you can have twice the fun and sing some duets. One dynamic microphone included--add another and you're set.

-This is great fun for the kids. It was easy to set up. There's room for two microphones (it comes with one, but you may buy another), and you can add an electric guitar.

I have a Sansa mp3 player, which connected easily and works well, though it doesn't seat in the mp3 holder well. That might hold an IPOD, but I don't know. It sits, but it's not well-seated and can fall out easily.

The mic volume can be controlled up or down and there are independent switches for each mic, but if the volume of the music is turned down, the mic is also turned down. There is no way to turn the mic volume so it is louder than the music. It is possible to turn the music completely off and sing to nothing.

There is an echo option which can be controlled to allow for more or less echo in the voice.

The vocal eliminator function will eliminate vocals from a track at the touch of a button. The vocals are not completely eliminated and the music is a little distorted, but that is to be expected when eliminating vocals from a track. It is not possible to do without a little distortion. It's a nice feature to have so we don't have to go out and buy a bunch of karaoke music.

The biggest drawback to this karaoke system over others is that it lacks the lyrics display. Of course, when using our regular mp3's, we don't have lyrics anyway; but there is no option of getting lyrics display if we wanted it. I simply go find the lyrics on the internet and print them out.

-The kids enjoy this microphone. Sometimes, they don't necessarily use it for singing, but it's a fun system and we will get lots of enjoyment out of it as we have already.

-This is a fantastic product. I bought it because my 11 year old daughter loves to sing. I thought the fact that her ipod could be used with it was a great idea. It has good sound, and we all enjoy using it. The sky is the limit with this because it can be used for so many different functions.

-Our 8 yr. old daughter received the SingStand from Santa this year. It was perfect!
The quality is much more than I would have expected. It really makes her feel like a rock star! The stand is sturdy and adjusts. If however, the stand is too high for your child, the mic can be removed from the stand, and handheld. The mic does have to be held pretty close to your mouth for the sound to come through the speaker. There is an echo effect that is fun to play around with. I love that we don't have to purchase separate karaoke cd's (which most are distorted anyway). She plugs in her I-pod, chooses whether or not to use the feature that muffles out the vocals, and she is ready to go! She has an Ipod nano which does not fit all that well in the intended spot, but it is not a big deal. I'm thinking of conjuring up some sort of device to attach to the stand to hold it. Our sons have Ipod classics which seem to stay in place just fine. Kudos to Memorex on this one!

-I am happy to say the Memorex MKS-SS1 Sing Stand is wayyy better than I ever expected. I bought 2 at Christmas and gave one to each of my Grandchildren...they are 13 years old and I wasn't sure if they would think they were a toy. We put them together in a snap and the sound is AMAZING! Not only did the kids love it but we adults plugged in their MP3 player and sang for hours....this is a great product! Good quality, Good sound, Good for any age...even a Garage Band starting out!
